So over the next 12 days there will be 3 major events that I’d like to highlight: Thursday Night Food Fight in Franklin, Party on the Lawn at Christ Presbyterian Church near Bellevue, and culminating with the Inaugural Nashville Street Food Awards at Centennial Park! The events are literally spread out throughout Nashville hitting nearly every corner. So there really isn’t an excuse to not hit at least one of these amazing events.
First up, we have Thursday Night Food Fight at The McConnell House in Franklin THIS THURSDAY, August 23rd. This pits SEVERAL food trucks against each other and we, the people, get to choose the winner. This event started back in June and has been a monthly occurrence. The winning food truck not only gets bragging rights, but they also get a trophy! And really, who doesn’t love a trophy!!! This month’s trucks are: Delta Bound, Dixie Belle’s Cupcakes, Grilled Cheeserie, Hoss’ Loaded Burgers, Jonbalaya, The Latin Wagon, RetroSno, Riffs, and Smoke Et Al. This event starts at 6 PM and goes up until 9 PM when the winner is announced. July’s winner was RetroSno. Can they hold on to be the first repeat Food Fight Winner? This is a FREE event. And they will have beer and wine available. This is a family friendly event. So pack up the blankets, chairs, what not and take the family to the Thursday Night Food Fight for dinner!!! Many of the trucks have items on their menu specifically for this event. So don’t miss out on this event!
Then on Sunday, August 26th, out on the west side of town at Christ Presbyterian Church at 2323 Old Hickory Boulevard, is the Party On the Lawn and All Meat Grill Off that is featuring 15 food trucks and mobile caterers. This event begins at Noon. It is as well a free event. There will be live music, a cornhole tournament, water games for the kids (so bring extra clothes and towels), and the Grill Off. The trucks participating in this event are: Bistro Truck, Blue Monkey Shaved Ice, Corky’s BBQ, Delta Bound, Dixie Belle’s Cupcakes, Hit & Miss Ice Cream, Hot Spot, Just Like Nannie Fixed It, Mobile Chef, Peanut Butter Paradise, Puckett’s Trolley, Sum Yum Yum, Terra Delicious, Waffle Boss, and Yayo’s OMG. That is quite the lineup.
Finally, next Saturday, September 1st, is the Inaugural Nashville Street Food Awards at Centennial Park from 11 AM until 6 PM. There will be no fewer than 23 trucks. Let me repeat that…23 TRUCKS! IN ONE PLACE!!! The trucks will have smaller sample sizes so that you can try more trucks than you normally would be able to. Then with a donation, you will be able to vote for the “Second Harvest People’s Choice Award”. There will also be judges who will be awarding winners for Best Burger, Best BBQ, Best Dessert, Best Hot Nashville, Best Vegetarian, Best Taco, Best Deep Fried, Best Drink and Best Sandwich. There will be an additional “Best of the Best” award which will be given to the truck who wins the most awards. This event also coincides with the fall kickoff of Musicians Corner which is from 3 PM to 6 PM and features The Blind Boys of Alabama. This event is NOT. TO. BE. MISSED! You know I’ll be all over this!!! And I hope to run into you as well!!! I wonder if I will get to be involved somehow! I’ll cross my fingers!!!!
Prepare to drop your jaw, because here is a current list of the trucks that will be at the Nashville Street Food Awards: Beach Bums Juice Bar, Biscuit Love, Blue Monkey Shaved Ice, DegThai, Delta Bound, Dixie Belle’s Cupcakes, Grilled Cheeserie, Hit or Miss Ice Cream, Hoss’ Loaded Burgers, Hot Spot, Jonbalaya, Latin Wagon, Love Shack, Mere Bulles, Moovers & Shakers, Peanut Butter Paradise, Retro Sno, Riffs, Smoke Et Al, Sum Yum Yum, Terra Delicious, Waffle Boss, Wrapper’s Delight, and Yayo’s OMG.
