2012 Battle of the Food Trucks – THIS SUNDAY!!!

Over a dozen food trucks will be battling it out at Greer Stadium from 3 PM – 6 PM to be crowned the 2012 Battle of the Food Trucks winner!!!  The 2011 Battle Victor, Riff’s Fine Street Foods, hopes to repeat.  But they will be facing some very stiff competition.

You do have to purchase tickets to enter the event.  And they are $35, plus a minimal fee.  However, the food from the trucks is included in this fee PLUS you also receive a drink ticket.  Also, if you bring 5 canned goods to donate to Second Harvest Food Bank, you will get a second drink ticket.

Proceeds from this event benefit the Tomorrow Fund.  According to their Facebook page: “The Tomorrow Fund is dedicated to harnessing the energy, enthusiasm, and resources of young Nashville residents above the age of 22 in an effort to serve the community. The Fund seeks to build community awareness, leadership and responsibility by establishing a pattern of community service and charitable giving.”

I know you are still thinking about that $35 ticket fee, aren’t you.  I will not lie that I gasped a bit when I saw the ticket price as well.  But then when I noticed that it said that the food from the trucks is included in the fee, I relaxed a little bit.  Now the trucks will not have full menus available.  Most trucks are only going to have 1-2 items available.  And I’m told these will be smaller portions (think about 1/2 the size of their normal portions), but you can have as much as you want.  Go through the lines for each truck as often as you want during the three hour event.  And when you consider most beer festivals cost about the same for “samples” of drinks, it’s basically the same concept as a beer festival, but with food truck food.  So really, once you REALLY think about it, the fee really isn’t outrageous.  It would only be outrageous if you had to also pay for your food.  But that isn’t the case.

Jim and I will both be there happily sampling from as many trucks as we can!  And Lightning 100’s Lt. Dan will be the Master of Ceremonies!  So it should be a really fun time!!!

Also, if you are a Retro Sno fan, this could be one of your last times to give them your business before they close down at the end of this month for the Winter season!!!!  So you don’t want to miss out on seeing them!!!

See you all on Sunday!!!
